Jackie has worked in education since she was a teenager; first as a reading tutor while she completed high school, then as an ELL instructor in Watsonville while earning her BA in English and Spanish literature at UC Santa Cruz. Initially hired at Bayhill as a teaching assistant in 2008, she was inspired by the school’s unique approach to shift from a general education credential program to earn a clear Special Ed credential. She went on to earn a Master’s degree in Special Education Curriculum and Development. Her Master’s Thesis is the basis for the writing curriculum used in all four years of English at Bayhill. Outside the classroom, Jackie enjoys many “geeky” genres of literature, film, and video games including Star Trek, Harry Potter, and the Legend of Zelda as well as spending time with her husband and two young daughters.
